“Finally, after all the mysteries of Christ had been fulfilled in him, his very holy soul detached itself from his body, and was absorbed in the sea of divine light; and the happy man died in the Lord. – One of his brethren and disciples saw the blessed soul like a shining star carried by white clouds ascending above the waters by a straight path to the high heavens. Brilliant with the light of sublime holiness and filled with heavenly wisdom and grace in abundance, the holy man deservedly entered into a place of light and peace, where he rested with Christ for all eternity.” (Legenda Major 14:6)

All praise be yours, my Lord, through Sister Death,
From whose embrace no mortal can escape.
How dreadful for those who die in sin!
How lovely for those found in Your Most Holy Will.
The second death can do them no harm.
Praise and bless my Lord, and give him thanks,
And serve him with great humility.
